The sleeping barrels are heated and equipped with fresh bed linen. Towels are available at reception upon request.

For our guests in the sleeping barrels Kettle, stove, pots, dishes and an additional heater/fan are available.
Everything can be borrowed from reception against a deposit.

In our motorhome park at the 3-star campsite, there is no electricity flat rate.
Instead, for maximum flexibility, we bill based on actual consumption.

Electricity can be conveniently paid for with coins directly at the parking space.
The rate is €0,90 per kWh.

A waste disposal option at the 3-star campsite is located in the garbage shed next to the tent area by the road.

Payment for comfort and Loisach parking spaces is anytime during reception hours Possible options: cash, debit card, VISA or Mastercard.
At the campervan site and on the tent meadows, advance payment is required; guests can simply leave on the day of departure.

Yes. We have pitches right on the Loisach River. They are located directly on the riverbank and have access to the riverbed. Use is at your own risk. The soothing sound of the river is included.

Our motorhome park is suitable for motorhomes up to a maximum length of 10 meters.

Yes. You can also arrive with a campervan or panel van.

Yes. Our comfort pitches and the pitches along the Loisach riverbank are particularly quiet. The pitches in the motorhome park are closer to the road. A flood barrier separates this area.

The pitches in the motorhome park are approximately 60 to 65 m² in size. The pitches in the Loisach riverbank area are approximately 90 to 100 m². Tent pitches of approximately 5 m² are available.

It depends on the specific pitch. The motorhome park offers relatively little shade from trees. In contrast, the pitches along the Loisach river are often located under mature trees and are therefore often shadier.

Yes, dogs are welcome. The exception is overnight stays in the sleeping barrels. A maximum of two pets are allowed per unit. The fee is €5 per night.

During the off-season, spontaneous arrivals are often possible. However, we cannot guarantee a free pitch without a reservation. During peak season and holidays, we strongly recommend booking in advance, as our pitches fill up quickly. Short-notice inquiries can be made by phone or via our website.

Yes. The Loisach riverbank area is ideal for a straightforward introduction to camping. The infrastructure is simpler than in 5-star campsites, and the prices are more affordable. Electricity is available via a coin-operated machine for €0,90/kWh. Our reception staff will be happy to assist you with any questions.

Many campsites offer views of the Zugspitze massif or the Wetterstein mountains. The Loisach campsites are located directly on the river. Behind them rises the Kramerspitze peak.

Yes. Short stays are also welcome. However, a minimum stay may apply during certain periods or for certain categories.

Yes. Arrival at our comfort pitches and Loisach pitches is possible with a roof tent or tent trailer. Awnings are not permitted in the motorhome park.

Besides our reception building with the Fritz Berger shop, we do not have any separate indoor lounges. In bad weather, a visit to the Schmölzer Wirt restaurant is a good option. Our indoor golf course is also a great choice for players with a registered handicap. Further excursion ideas in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen region can be found here.

Advance booking is recommended, especially during holidays and peak season. Check-in for pitches is from 15:00 PM, and check-out is until 11:00 AM. Electricity is available via a coin-operated machine and costs €0,90/kWh. Please bring sufficient coins. Dogs should be mentioned when booking. Waste disposal is located in the rubbish shed next to the tent area. Our reception is available during opening hours should you have any questions.

Yes, every Monday and Tuesday during the summer months there is a barbecue evening with space for about 40 people. Unfortunately, reservations are not possible.

Our gym is available to you in the High season: daily from 10:00 to 21:30 are available to support you.
In the Off-season is it from 10: 00 19 to: 30 pm open, with a short lunch break for cleaning and maintenance of the equipment.

For safety reasons, children aged 14 and over are only allowed in the fitness area with parental consent.

Our fitness area is well-equipped and offers both classic strength training equipment and modern cardio machines. These include, among other things:

Yes. Many pitches offer a direct view of the Zugspitze summit. The imposing mountain massif is visible from every pitch.

In the 5-star area, there are comfort pitches with electricity included and premium pitches with bookable private bathrooms. Additionally, mountain cabins for 2 or 4 people, a treehouse, and a holiday apartment in Grainau are available. The holiday apartment is about a 10-minute drive from the camping resort.

The comfort pitches are approximately 90 to 110 m² in size.

Yes. Our premium pitches have their own private bathroom. En-suite bathrooms are included in the mountain cabins, treehouse, and holiday apartment.

Yes. The use of the sauna and fitness area is included in the overnight price for all guests of our 5-star resort.

Yes. Our grounds include a sauna and fitness area with a relaxation room, lounge area, and sun terrace. Hairdryers are available in the sauna area and all restrooms. A Kneipp pool with cool mountain spring water provides refreshment. There is also a picnic area right by the river.

Yes. For those seeking more comfortable camping, we offer a variety of options: mountain cabins for 2 or 4 people with en-suite bathrooms, treehouses with private bathrooms, and premium pitches with bookable private bathrooms. We were awarded first place in the "Best Permanent Rental Accommodation" category at the Campsite Awards 2023.

For longer stays, we offer additional services. For stays of 7 nights or more, we provide an interim cleaning of the accommodation or private bathroom, as well as fresh towels. Additionally, for stays of 7 nights or more, a preferred pitch can be reserved.

Dogs are welcome on our pitches for a small surcharge. A maximum of two pets are allowed per unit. The fee is €6 per night. Dogs are not permitted in our mountain cabins, treehouse, or holiday apartment.

There are no special winter pitches. Our 5-star campsite is open all year round. Pitches can also be booked in winter.

Yes. The 5-star facilities make getting started with camping particularly comfortable. Sanitary facilities, reception, bistro, and many other services are located directly on site. Those arriving without their own campervan can also stay in a mountain cabin, treehouse, or holiday apartment.

Weatherproof equipment is essential for camping in the mountains. Even in summer, evenings can get chilly, so warm clothing should be packed. A rain jacket and waterproof shoes are recommended for hiking. In winter, a warm sleeping bag, frost-resistant water pipes, or antifreeze are advisable. An adapter cable with a CEE Type 2 plug is needed for electricity. Sun protection is also important, as UV radiation can be more intense in the mountains.

Yes. Card payments are possible with Girocard, VISA and Mastercard. Contactless payment via NFC, Apple Pay or Google Pay is also possible.

Yes, both parking areas have a barrier with license plate recognition. Please ensure your license plate is clean to pass through the barrier without any problems.

We offer a daily bread roll service for our guests if ordered the day before by 16:45 pm.

Yes. E-bike rental and car rental are available directly at the resort for excursions in the region.

Yes. Shopping facilities are within easy walking distance of the camping resort. In the immediate vicinity you will find, among other things, an Edeka supermarket, an Aldi supermarket, and a beverage store.

On the comfort pitches of the 3* and 5* facilities, we have water and waste disposal columns for fresh water and electricity, as well as grey water and toilet cassette emptying.

The premium pitches (5* site) can use the grey water disposal at reception.

A service station for water and waste disposal is available for the motorhome parking areas and Loisach pitches in the 3* facility.

The resort is located in Grainau, about a 90-minute drive south of Munich – ideal for a short break or weekend trip to the Alps.

There are several shopping options in the immediate vicinity of the camping resort. Edeka, Aldi, and a Fristo supermarket are about a 2- to 5-minute walk away. The supermarkets are generally open Monday to Saturday from approximately 8 a.m. to 19 p.m. Opening hours may vary.

Guests of the 5-star campsite also have access to a bread roll delivery service, which can be booked daily until 16:45 pm the day before. Further local amenities are available in Grainau and Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Yes. Visitors are welcome, but must register at reception in advance. A daily fee may apply depending on the length of the visit.

For check-in, a booking confirmation (digital or printed) and a photo ID (national identity card or passport) are required for all guests aged 16 and over. Vehicle documents may be required for special requests.

No. Arrivals and departures are not possible during the night-time quiet hours from 22:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

Yes. Packages and mail can be delivered to our reception. When ordering, please include your full name and pitch number in the delivery address.

At the 5-star campsite, you can stop by the Bistro Alpspitzblick from 2 pm. There are also board games and a small playroom. Adults have access to the sauna and fitness area. The 3-star campsite does not have its own lounge. You can find more ideas on our page about bad weather activities.

Our rental accommodations, such as mountain cabins and sleeping barrels, are well-suited for winter camping beginners. The accommodations are heated. A sauna and bistro offer additional comfort. Prior winter camping experience is recommended if you are bringing your own motorhome or caravan.

For winter camping with your own motorhome or caravan, a winter-ready vehicle with heating and antifreeze for the water system is essential. Warm sleeping bags, thermal clothing, antifreeze additive for the wastewater tank, snow chains (depending on the weather conditions), and good footwear with good tread should also be included.

Snow chains are recommended or required depending on the weather. Winter tires are generally mandatory when snowfall is forecast or winter road conditions prevail. Current road conditions should be checked before departure, for example via the Bavarian Road Information System.

The grounds will be cleared of snow. Buildings and paths will remain fully accessible.

Yes. Ski and drying rooms are available at both the 3-star and 5-star campsites. You can store and dry your ski and winter equipment there during your stay.

The water connections are also in operation during winter and are protected against frost.

Nearby are the Zugspitze, Germany's highest ski resort, about 8 km away, and the Garmisch-Classic ski area, about 5 km away. With the Hausberg, Kreuzeck and Alpspitze mountains, Garmisch-Classic offers various access points and runs directly in the Werdenfelser Land region.

The public bus stop is just a short walk from the entrance to the camping resort. With the GrainauCard, which guests receive upon arrival along with the tourist tax, the bus is free of charge. We also offer a shuttle service for skiers in the mornings and afternoons.

Yes. Groomed winter hiking trails are directly accessible from the resort. The Zugspitze region around Grainau offers many well-marked winter hiking trails.

Yes. Our sauna and fitness area is ideal for recovery after skiing. You can stop in at the Bistro Alpspitzblick to warm up.

Grainau lies at an altitude of approximately 720 meters. In winter, temperatures typically range between -5°C and +5°C. Colder temperatures are possible during periods of extreme cold. Snowfall is possible from October to April.

Yes. The camping resort is open all year round, including Christmas and New Year's. During the holiday season, there is a minimum stay of 4 nights.

The motorhome should be winterized. This includes winter tires, a functioning heater, and antifreeze. The water connection is only possible during frost-free periods. In sub-zero temperatures, a separate water supply should be planned for. Winter diesel is also essential. Gas cylinders are used more heavily in cold weather, so an adequate supply should be carried. The wastewater and freshwater tanks should be checked regularly.

For beginners, warm rental accommodation such as a mountain hut or a sleeping barrel is recommended. Layered clothing helps with significant temperature changes between day and night. Good footwear and crampons are advisable on icy trails. After your outdoor adventure, a visit to the sauna is a great option. Check the weather forecast daily, as mountain weather can change rapidly.

Yes. Campervans and panel vans are welcome here even in winter.

Yes. Dogs are welcome even during the winter season. The same conditions apply as in the summer.

There are many activities for children around the camping resort. These include hiking, nature experiences right at the foot of the Zugspitze, excursions to Lake Eibsee, and water-based adventures along the Loisach River. The GrainauCard also includes free admission to the Zugspitzbad Grainau swimming pool. In winter, sledding, winter hiking, and skiing are popular activities.

We don't have a separate lounge for families. Families staying at the 5-star campsite can use the Bistro Alpspitzblick, which offers board games and a small playroom for children. There is no dedicated lounge at the 3-star campsite. The Schmölzer Wirt restaurant is another family-friendly option for a meal.

Yes. Camping Resort Zugspitze is ideal for active families who love the outdoors. The various accommodation options cater to different family sizes. Nature, mountains, and numerous excursion opportunities begin right outside the door. This is precisely why Camping Resort Zugspitze was awarded first place in the "Best Place for Hiking" category at the Campsite Awards 2023.

The camping resort is suitable for all age groups, from toddlers to seniors. Mountain cabins and sleeping barrels are a good option for families with young children. Pitches are particularly suitable for families with their own camping equipment or some camping experience.

A speed limit is in effect throughout the entire area. There are also playgrounds and ample parking. However, children should always be supervised, especially near paths, vehicles, and the Loisach river.

For families with children, the region offers many excursion destinations. These include the Zugspitze, the Eibsee, the Partnach Gorge in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the Wank mountain, and King Ludwig II's castles Neuschwanstein and Linderhof. The Alpspitz Waterfall Trail is also a great destination for active families.

Yes. There are several flat and family-friendly hiking trails around Grainau. Popular examples include the trail to Lake Eibsee (approx. 5 km) and the circular trail around Lake Eibsee (approx. 8,5 km).

The Loisach River is directly accessible from the 3-star campsite on the banks of the Loisach. Use of the river is at your own risk. The current can be strong and dangerous. Children should always be supervised there.

The Bistro Alpspitzblick, located on the 5-star campsite, offers ice cream, cakes, and soft drinks. Special events like barbecue evenings or traditional Bavarian white sausage breakfasts can also be tailored for children. Our Restaurant Schmölzer Wirt also offers a children's menu.

Yes. Changing areas are available in the sanitary facilities, as well as in the Bistro Alpspitzblick and in the Schmölzer Wirt.

Yes. We have two travel cots available for our youngest guests. These are provided upon request and subject to availability. Please let us know when booking or before your arrival.

Yes. Our mountain cabins are particularly well-suited for families with babies or toddlers. They offer protection from the elements, a private bathroom, and heating. This makes camping with small children much easier. Unfortunately, we are currently unable to provide cribs in our accommodations.

We do not offer our own holiday programs or special family offers. Current offers in the region and the benefits of the GrainauCard can be obtained locally or from the tourist information offices in Grainau and Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

There are several swimming options nearby. Lake Eibsee is about 5 km away and offers swimming areas and excellent water quality. Lake Badersee in Grainau is a small, local lake and is within walking distance. The Alpspitz wave pool in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is also about 8 km away.

For families, there are many activities to enjoy in winter around Grainau and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. These include skiing in Garmisch-Classic and on the Zugspitze, sledding on suitable slopes, winter hikes on groomed trails, and snowshoeing. A ride on the Zugspitze cable car to the summit is also a special experience in winter. Ice skating is possible at the Garmisch-Partenkirchen ice rink.

Yes. The region offers many outdoor activities for teenagers. Climbing, mountain biking, hiking, and the mountains around the Zugspitze are well-suited for sporty, active young people. Sauna use is possible depending on age restrictions.

Camping holidays offer families a great deal of freedom. The day can be structured flexibly, meals can be prepared independently, and children experience everyday outdoor life directly in nature. Added to this are opportunities to meet other families and the excellent location for active holidays in the Zugspitze region. Especially for larger families, camping can also be more affordable than a hotel stay.

Yes. Our rental accommodations, such as mountain cabins and sleeping barrels, are particularly well-suited for a first family camping holiday, as no camping equipment is required. The 5-star amenities, including a sauna, bistro, and reception service, make getting started even easier. This allows families to comfortably experience camping for the first time.

It's best to book as early as possible. Especially during the summer season and Bavarian school holidays, many campsites are quickly booked up. Mountain cabins and treehouses are often reserved months in advance. Outside of peak season, shorter-notice bookings are also possible.

We accept the ADAC CampCard in the off-season as well as cards from DCC, Mein PLATZ, Camping in Bayern, DCU, Eura Mobil and FreeOnTour.

For pitches and sleeping barrels, free cancellation is possible up to 16 days before arrival. For cancellations 15 to 5 days before arrival, the reservation fee is waived. From 4 days before arrival, the full fee as stated in the booking confirmation will be charged.

For mountain cabins and treehouses, free cancellation is possible up to 21 days before arrival. For cancellations 20 to 14 days before arrival, the reservation fee is waived. From 13 days before arrival, the full fee as stated in the booking confirmation will be charged.

Yes. The deposit is due upon booking and must be paid in advance by bank transfer. It is €50 for pitches, €80 for sleeping barrels, and €200 for mountain huts and the treehouse.

No. Dogs are not included in the price and will be charged per night. At the 5-star campsite, the fee is €6 per night.

Unfortunately not. We do not offer family prices.

The overnight price at our 5-star campsite includes a pitch and electricity hook-up. Bed linen is included in the rental accommodations. Towels can be added on request for an extra charge. Use of the sauna and fitness area is included in the overnight price for all guests of our 5-star campsite.

Outside of peak season, prices are lower than in the high season. The hotel is quieter and particularly suitable for guests seeking relaxation, nature, and peace and quiet.
