Grainau in summer
The Zugspitze village of Grainau and the entire region offer hiking and cycling trails, ski slopes, and cross-country ski trails for all levels. Popular destinations include the Zugspitze, Alpspitze, Kreuzeck, Wank, and Eckbauer mountains, as well as the AlpSpix viewing platform and the Höllental and Partnachklamm gorges.
Water lovers can enjoy rafting, canyoning, boat trips on the Loisach, water sports on Lake Eibsee, and the swimming pools in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Grainau.
Families can look forward to castles, a climbing forest, a petting zoo, and numerous hiking trails.

There is also plenty to do away from the slopes – whether ice skating at the Olympic Ice Sports Center, tobogganing at Eckbauer, or strolling through the atmospheric illuminated old town.
